Oh! I sent you a chain letter :)
They're usually harmless, but meant to make the reader paranoid because the message says something will happen to them if they don't send it to somebody else. It's usually a kind of letter that's meant to go around and be sent to as many people as they can... I don't know who invited them, though.

Some people actually believe in it, as if reading the text would put a curse on them.
